NZ startup EnergyBank: ‘we can help decarbonise 42 countries’



EnergyBank is a Deep Ocean Gravitational Energy Storage company, co-founded and led by Tim Hawkey. They are developing a low-cost, scalable electricity storage technology with very high round-trip efficiencies with the aim of catalysing grid decarbonization.

The Company’s solution involves deployment of mass produced floating units (buoys) in deep ocean next to high population metropolitan areas.

Nuance love the team's vision to make a real difference to the world and had participated in the the $2.7M seed round, led by Icehouse Ventures. Other investors included Blackbird Ventures, Outset Ventures, US-based deep-tech fund Promus Ventures, and Canadian fund Version One.
